Programme Introduction

Criminology is an alliance of both social sciences and forensics. As a multidisciplinary subject, one will be dealing with research directed in arenas beyond laboratories like economics, anthropology, and psychology to decode criminal behaviour. You will be the brains behind the units for deterring crime. The course can be tailored to your interest as it offers freedom of module selection from a plethora of electives.

This B.A (Hons.) Criminology and Criminal Justice aims to nurture the study of how and why crimes happen along with understanding the criminal behavior, analysis of testimony, and examination of the social conditions pertaining to criminal and the crime. This programme is the first ever exclusive course on Criminology and Criminal Justice to be launched in 2022-23 academic year.

WHY STUDY B.A. (Hons.) CRIMINOLOGY AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE?

 

Programme Objective

  • Provide students with an understanding of the theories behind crimes and criminal justice system.
  • Create the imagination that is needed for shaping the framework within which investigations, evidence collection etc., are performed.
  • Provide students with a comprehensive exposure to the Indian criminal system and International criminal system through experiential learning by way of compulsory internships.
  • Provide students with a sound understanding of the history and organization of criminal ethics, juvenile system and victimology apart from the adhered notions of criminology.
  • Familiarise students with the sociology and psychology of criminals, apart from advanced forensic science.
